Radio Interview: Thoroughbred industry launches taskforce targeting racehorse welfare

The thoroughbred industry is launching a national taskforce to improve animal welfare and ensure the industry tracks racehorses at the end of their career.

The working group will be chaired by former Victorian premier Denis Napthine, with input from the RSPCA and the Australian Veterinary Association.

It comes just months after a 7.30 investigation reported that hundreds, and potentially thousands, of racehorses were being slaughtered for pet and human consumption each year…
